feeling lucky

8/11/15

jacket - Lucky Brand (I can't believe I found it) | jeans - Zara | shirt - J.Crew (old) | shoes - Dolce Vita | purse - Rebecca Minkoff | sunglasses - Ray Ban

I have not taken outfit pictures in what seems like forever so I was so glad to find these photos in a random folder on my desktop.  So I am lucky to have something to post and I was also lucky to find this jacket because I hunted it down for about a week.  You know when you see someone wearing something amazing and you just need to find it (while praying that it dose not cost a limb... usually everything I want dose).  I saw a coworker wearing this jacket and basically chased her down screaming "where did you get that".  It is such a great piece for laying and the quilted detail just kills it! She told me that she purchased it at Lucky Brand and it was the last one.  I checked the website... could not find it.  Went to the Lucky Brand in my mall... could not find it.  Called the two other Lucky Brand stores within driving distance... obviously they did not have it either (this is why all stores need to have their inventory in sync).  So for a couple of days I sulked about never finding this jacket I even checked eBay... how desperate.

Finally about 2 weeks later I was shopping (per usual), at Lucky Brand and I found it... the last one in my size (well a size bigger, but who cares)  I was ecstatic! - Not to mention (well I am mentioning) it was on sale and extra 50% off... the wait was worth it.

Well thats the end of my sad shopaholic story but I am happy to say that I found it in almost all sizes here!

repeat offender

8/4/15

shirt - Forever 21 | romper - Express Factory | shoes - Halogen (a Nordstrom brand) | handbag - Rebecca Minkoff (mine is in the color seashell) | sunglasses - Rayban | necklace - Gorjana via Rocks Box

I am being a repeat offender in this romper but who honestly has enough money to blog completly new pieces in each post, and I love this romper so I am going to wear it as many times as I please.  (see last post here)

A simple black romper is a staple - it can be dressed up or down and can also be worn multiple times in a week without anyone noticing because it is that understated.  I wore this romper before with a olive vest over it and have worn it multiple times (not pictured here on the blog) with a denim jacket, under a light sweater, and topped with a white chiffon vest.  The versatility of this romper is 100% and I should have probably purchased two because by the end of the summer it will probably be faded or worn out from wearing it so much.

Im not normally into a harsh red plaid print but this shirt was something different and sometimes we all need something different.  I am pretty tall so it will be much longer on someone with a more petite frame  but I loved that tying the front gave it a perfectly undone vibe!  I also love it over jeans and will be great with a long cardigan and leggings when the weather cools down.  My number one rule when buying something is "can I wear this at least two ways",  this shirt made the cut and although it probably will not get much use its fun!

My apartment search has been equally as miserable as the last post and I am on the verge of giving up and living in my car... I just have to figure out where to fit all my clothes (and my shoes).

Kays Kitchen: Strawberry Shortcake

7/28/15

Kays Kitchen is back (with some lost files) and although strawberry picking season is over, its not too late to enjoy a quick and easy treat.  Strawberries are amazing - and whats great about them is that they are even more amazing with some sugar, laid over a piece of cake, and topped with whipped cream.  Although I did not make the cake (because I would probably burn it).  I do have a super easy recipe on how to create your own whipped cream.  Do not be fooled its probably one of the easiest things but people will be impressed that you even put in the effort to feed them.

what you will need:

large bowl (chilled) - heavy whipping cream - sugar - electric mixer

so your first step is to chill the bowl that you are using.  I prefer to use a metal bowl because I find that it stays cooler longer but use any bowl that you have.  Then pour a cup of heavy whipping cream into the bowl and add a tablespoon of sugar (I usually add more because I like it sweet... ).

Here comes the hardest part - use an electric mixer to whip the cream and sugar together.  Whip the contents until hard peaks are about to form (English: basically whip the cream and sugar until it holds a form)

yes, its that easy.

To prepare strawberries I add sugar and water to a bowl and let them chill in the fridge for an hour or two.

whip, whip, whip, whipwhip- whip it real good.

lace shorts & olive shirt

7/27/15

I purchased these shorts as soon as spring started and have not worn them until this past week.  I was going to get them altered to have the perfect fit but I am a procrasinator and there is only a month left of summer so I will suck it up and continue to pull these up each time I wear them.  I am starting to think that I should accually stop shopping...

That will never happen, but I am thinking about it so that is a start.

I have such a strange habit of saving items of clothing - this needs to stop.  At the end of each season I end up with too many items never worn with the tags still attached (how sad is that).  While these clothes sadly hand in my closet untouched I continue to purchase more and more items witch amounts to even more unworn pieces.  Whatever I can return I do - but there is a good amount I endup sitting on until I give it away or donate it.

This past week I finally starting posting my lightly used or unworn items on the app Polyvore!  Two pairs or shoes already sold and it is such a relief to get rid of some of the items that I wore one or two times! If you do not already have the app sign up with the code HPUEG to receive a free $5 credit!

happy shopping & selling,
xo Kay
