Couch envy (verb): strong jealousy of the overall look, color, or vibe of a specific couch

4/27/15

I can't even start to describe my love for all of these couches... They are all so stunning and I would give up shopping for a week for any of them to appear in the imaginary living room of my imaginary apartment... A girl can dream.  No, I do not have an apartment and even if I did I would not have the funds to make my living room as fabulous as these ladies did but I would try!  Looking at inspiration helps me when I'm stuck in a rut, sometimes I'm not feeling as creative as usuall but these living rooms are giving me all the inspiration I need.

Monday Motivation: Ways to Start the Week Strong.

4/27/15

Although Monday is technically the second day of the week, it always feels like the start.  These looooong Mondays seem to come so often and are usually dreaded because on Monday it's back to work, school, or the life that was put on pause for the weekend.  Monday is also a great day to reset priorities and set a positive mindset for the week.  Grab a coffee, eat your breakfast, put on a badass outfit and face the week with a smile on your face.

Ways to Motivate on Mondays (or any other day):

 - Start the week with a healthy meal
- Make Monday workouts mandatory
- Start a cleanse
- Go on an adventure
- Plan your week
- Decide you are in a good mood!

Working up a sweat is my personal favorite way to start the week.  It feels great and resets my mind from the weekend and helps me stay on track for the rest of the week.  I have been working on my endurance lately and have fell in love with running (again... it's a love hate relationship).  I always feel amazing after hitting a new goal or finishing an extra mile.  Mondays can be a drag but by making them as productive as possible can be the best way to cope (after a large coffee).

have positive and productive week!

blue crush (verb): a lust for all things blue

4/23/15

blue crush

jeans- Topshop | perfume- Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream | phone case- Sonix | handbag- Tory Burch | chambray top- Thread and Supply | earrings- Kendra Scott | shoes- Sole Society

Oh, the things I would do for all of this to appear in my wardrobe!  I have been lusting over a simplistic blue and white palette .  When the weather starts to warm up I can't help but feel nautical vibes and these items are at the top of my list.

My most recent purchase has been these jeans in a medium wash, I haver herd about the Topshop "jamie jean" forever and finally came across a pair... they are a dream.  They fit like a glove and after wear do not show any signs of sagging.  They were comfortable enough to wear on a flight and dace in at the club.  The white version of these jeans will be a must have this summer.
I have been on the hunt for a floral fragrance that is still clean and fresh.  Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs is the perfect weightless mix of floral and fruity notes, and a hint of coconut makes it perfect for summer.  The last thing I need in this world is another handbag... the last thing!  I am going to apologize to my bank account ahead of time for this Tory Burch number, I will not pass it up.  The bag has such a simple shape and is in such a beautiful blue color that is complemented with white and brown detailing- it is basically perfect.
The last three items speak for themselves... my love for chambray tops will never end and this one is perfect for when it will be too hot to wear a classic one.  I can easily picture it over a bathing suit top, with a shirt for a night out, or some simple shorts for a casual day... with that said, it's a necessity.  The earnings are a beautiful dusty blue color, and thats the only justification needed.  For the shoes... stripes are a neutral and I know I would get countless wears out of them.

Off to fit this all into my budget,

Blushing Again

4/21/15

Here we are again... This bush coat is hands down my favorite piece right now and you can probably guess why: its blush, and its transitional.  The weather these past couple of weeks has been so temperamental, it goes from 70 degrees and sunny to 50 degrees and windy.  This jacket is perfect over a tee and skinnies with a scarf but can also be flawless over a simple dress (they need to make more colors).  It also dose not hurt that it is under $40!

Jacket- Forever 21 | flats- Gap (so old) | necklace- BaubleBar | tote- Old Navy (I also love the cream)

You'll probably see this jacket again,

coast (verb): to move forward with the flow

4/15/15

There's nothing like a little time away.  It could be an hour, a day, a week - taking time alone (or with a close friend) is sometimes all you need. This trip to Virginia has been the most relaxing time I have had in too long.  I usually have issues with change but this week I have learned to just let it be. Things happen- some hotels won't check you in unless your 21, sometimes uber drivers don't show up and your stranded in the middle of nowhere alone while your phone dies, and there days that the rain comes pouring down it feels like a monsoon is coming but that's life.

Coasting along dose not have to be negative, it can reduce stress and that's something everyone needs!  The way I look at it, you can either go with the current, or against it.

Trench Coat: Part Two

4/10/15

I just can't get enough of this trench.  I have to confess I just got a longer one in a darker color, took me about a month and atlas 7 different trips to 4 different stores but I finally found it, unfortunately it's still not everything I am looking for but I'm broke and chic over here so a trench under $40 will work until the Banana Republic coat of my dreams is finally on sale!  This trenches perfect with jeans  and pants but it is a bit short when paired with dresses and skirts!  Don't get me wrong, I am still loving it!  In addition to my trench coats I have been living in these stretch jegging-jeans from Zara.  They are extremely comfortable and a true black, not the kind that is going to fade to deep gray after wearing them once!

trench- Forever 21 (they also had a plus sized option but I can't find it online) | sweater- H&M (on sale in store) | jeggings- Zara | shoes- Forever 21 (old- similar pair here) | tote- Old Navy | necklace- J. Crew (last year- similar) | sunglasses- Forever 21

Day off Destroyed Denim

4/10/15

I have two days off a week and I would be lying if I said I didn't wear destroyed denim on both of them.  I have always loved distressed jeans.  I remember sitting in class my freshman year of high school, bored out of my mind, shredding my jeans with a pair of scissors (looking back there were probably more constructive things I could have been doing).  Notice: I did not destroy these jeans myself (if I could have, I would have).  To make these jeans even better they are boyfriend style... so not only are they hella cute, they are just as comfortable.

always laughing

Now I have a confession: I could not stand boyfriend jeans for the longest time.
There, I said it, I despised them... It was not the look, it was the fit.  I must have tried out 20 different pairs of boyfriend jeans until I found ones that looked like boyfriend jeans.  I am curvy and have a booty so the loose fit of boyfriend jeans usually dose not translate well when pulled over my thunder thighs (I'm a big fan of squats and I don't plan on stopping).  For my fello curvy girls I found these in the plus section of Forever 21 and I'm wearing a 12 (to be honest they are a bit big, but the proportions fit well so I will have them taken in at the waist) For my thinner girls heres a similar pair!

getaway (noun): an escape or quick departure

4/8/15

Sometimes everything caves in at once and you need to leave...

pack a bag and book a flight to somewhere you have never been.

On that note, Monday I will be getting on a plane to Virginia to make a brief getaway from life.  Unfortunately I will eventually have to come back but I need a break.  After a long time of feeling sorry for myself I have realized that it is okay not to be okay.  Everyone has struggles, stress, and sorrow weather it shows or not.  We all have things that are difficult to talk about or situations that make us feel vulnerable but thats life and it goes on, stay positive and let go of things that can not be controlled.

What to do when you feel like there is nothing you can do:
Cry a good cry lets it all out... it might take a couple of hours or an entire day but holding it in only makes it worse (just make sure you have some tissues, or a towel).  When your done crying think of something you can do (like hop on a plane), say (example: sorry), or eat (cookie butter) that might make the situation better.  If there is nothing you can do move on, it might take a week, or a month, or much longer but take time to work on things that are important.   "This too shall pass"- is something I say to myself daily because the truth is that it will pass, time heals.

Your Making Me Blush

4/6/15

There's no color I love more this season than blush, it is a staple in my spring wardrobe.  When I saw the jacket I knew I needed it (and prayed that it fit while practically yanking it down from the display), the waterfall detail in the front makes it look effortlessly chic and again... the color is perfect.

I have been trying to add more neutrals to my wardrobe but this top has been one of my favorites for almost two years now and has yet to fail me.  Chiffon shirts are great for layering as the weather warms up because they are so breathable and fall nicely over anything from trousers to skirts, this one has a permeant place in my closet.

In addition to the coat these sunnies have been glued to my face since I picked them out the second I saw them at Nordstrom.  Aviators are my favorite style because they are as easily worn with gym apparel as they are with something a bit more put together and versatility is my go-to.  The handbag is Rebecca Minkoff (I'm addicted to her bags) I love that I can remove the chain to make it a clutch, like I just said... versatility

jacket- Forever 21 | jeans- Zara | shoes- Steve Madden (similar) | sunglasses- Rayban | handbag- Rebecca Minkoff (old color, exact style) | watch- Burberry | bracelets- Madewell/J.Crew | earrings- Loft |

I'm sure I will be blushing again soon!

Current Skincare Favorites

4/4/15

1. GLAMGLOW Supermud Mask: All time favorite mask, it leaves my skin feeling moisturized, fresh, and clean.  I use it sparingly (as in once a month, unless I have a special event), it helps fight most common skin concerns including breakouts and unevenness.  I love that I can basically see all the oils penetrate from my skin (its really exciting).

2. Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair:  I am not much of a skincare person but I'm trying.  I always ask the ladies at the skincare (or makeup counters) if they could only purchase one item what it would be, and now I have this amazing serum.  By asking them to choose one item of whatever brand they work for it helps me focus on what is amazing instead of whats new or trending!  This serum is amazing, I have problematic oily skin with lots of dark marks from acne scars.  This serum along with the help of my Clearasonic has helped me reduce my dark marks dramatically and brings my skin back to life after applying as many acne drying products as possible.

3. Trader Joe's Tea Tree Oil: basically my zit zapper, helps control my constant breakouts on my face and body (working out dose a damage to my sensitive skin).  For $6.99 I will use this forever!  I like to apply this before applying my moisturizer in the morning and again at night (depending on if my skin is behaving).  Tea tree oil is used as an antiseptic and is used to treat all types of skin infections,
it also leaves my skin feeling tingly (to me that means its working).

I am constantly on the hunt for skincare, if you have any suggestions let me know below!
