Bright Sweater + Vest Weather

12/31/13

The holidays have ended and as the new year approaches we have had some ugly weather.  It's okay though because rainy days are perfect for movies!  This past Sunday was a gloomy one.  I brightened it up with a pink sweater and cream vest (that I have been loving).  This Old Navy vest is a keeper!  I had been lusting over the J. Crew vests that everyone and their mother owns but when i found this similar one at Old Navy for... 20 flipping dollars I jumped at the chance (and should probably go pick up a few more).  Since it was raining, I wanted something dark on bottom.  This jeggings are also from Old Navy and were so affordable.  Old Navy has seriously stepped their game up, the fit of the jeans are amazing, now I know why I have seen them on so many other blogs (they are the rockstar cut).

This seriously look alike bag was a major find at No Rest for Bridget.  Working at a clothing store is detrimental to my wallet but this baby was only $35 and I needed it.  I have wanted a Rebecca Minkoff  bag for three years and counting.  First of all the red color is amazing and second of all it was only 35 flipping dollars!  Who could pass that up?  If you haven't seen these bags you should check them out, here.  After wearing this look alike around for a couple of days i can confidently say that I would much rather a smaller size.  Some good came out of buying an almost knockoff bag (I prefer not calling them knockoffs, more like tester bags before a big purchase).

It is also important to have a cute umbrella!

Every Ending Yields a New Beginning

As 2013 comes to an end I have reflected on my last 4 months of blogging and how great it has been.  I underestimated the time that blogging really takes!  I have met some amazing people and have had a chance to channel my creative energy in a somewhat therapeutic way (it feels great to meet goals).  With the new year arriving I am excited about my first full year of blogging, and life changes that will take place.  I am so excited for the new year!

In 2014 I hope to get on schedule with my blog.  It's difficult with school and work but when the warmer weather comes it will be a lot easier to keep up (the sun has been setting around 4pm lately).  I hope to make more connections and take my blog to the next level.  I also hope to start making tutorials via Youtube if you haven't ever watched any you should.  They are full of new ideas and many tips basically anything you want to know about!  I will be continuing my education (probably changing my major another 8 times), hopefully moving (fingers crossed), and turing 20 (no more excuses referencing my age).  2014 will be a productive year and I could not be more excited!

Resolution wise... I still have to thing about those.  I hope everyone has a happy New Year!

What are you looking forward to in 2014?

With the Holidays behind us it's the perfect time to catch up on errands and such.
This outfit is perfect for errand running without looking like the mess you may be in.  I feel that over the last couple of weeks I have been so behind in every aspect of life and am making it a priority to get back on track.  Sweater dresses have been a favorite of mine for the last couple weeks for a couple of reasons: they are easy, warm, and adorable.   I already discussed my dislike for jackets, so while running erands I like to wear things that are light enough that I am not going to be sweating by the time I am ready to checkout.  Sweater dresses are just fabulous all together.

Red Lips x 2

12/21/13

The holidays are a time for family, friends, and a red lip.  I love red pretty much all year but espically around the holidays.  This year I have been really into darker lipsticks but you can never go wrong with a classic red lip. I was ecstatic when I found this sweater at H&M, first of all it was 50% off and second of all it had an image of perfect red lips on it!  It was love at first sight.

I have really been loving skirts lately as well.  I read a lot of blogs and have realized that there are a lack of skirts in my wardrobe.  When I was browsing around at The Gap the other day I found this adorable one, on sale, and it was a tall length.  Typically I do not need extended lengths in my skirts but the flare in this one caused the back to be a bit short, so I was estatic when I found it in the longer length (it must have been an online return).  I loved the pattern and intantly started thinking of ways to pair the skirt all year round.  I cant wait to wear it with brighter colors in the spring!

I thought this outfit would be perfect for a family party.  Usually when I am around my family it's a low key occasion.  The sweater and the flats really dress the skirt down while creating a seamless finish, and once it's time to leave the sweater can be paired with a pair of pj pants for the ride home.

Hopefully I will be adding more skirts to my wardrobe.

Hello There Snow.

12/19/13

Well with winter comes snow.  In the last week we have had a couple of snowfalls and yesterday was the first day I was not bundled head to toe.  This outfit was perfect for running errands and finishing up my Christmas shopping.  Like most people, wearing or carrying a jacket while shopping is quite an annoyance.  The vest made shopping much easier and I was not drenched in sweat after a few hours of shopping.  I opted for a pair of combat boots because they do pretty well in the snow and they are not as heavy as a pair of snow or rain boots.  Overall yesterday was a productive, much needed day off.
For a casual outfit I usually choose simple pieces.  A sweatshirt, comfortable jeans, and a few accessories pair for a somewhat polished look, even when you do not feel polished at all.

Sweatshirt: Old Navy, Vest: Forever 21 (old): similar, Gloves: Gifted , Jeans: American Eagle (old): similar, Hat: NRFB: similar, Scarf: Zara, Necklace: Express, Boots: Steve Madden (old)

Making Deadlines

12/17/13

I apologize again for the lack of posts :(  I have been working a ton and the snow is really not a great look for pictures.  Yes, it is beautiful when it falls, but you wakeup and it is all either icy, brown, or slushy aka not so cute.  I have been finalizing some of my Christmas shopping (most of it online), and have realized that most Christmas deadlines end soon.  So, if you have something to order do it now, or soon!  I have put together some items that I would love to receive as a gifts (possibly for your female siblings, daughters, cousins, nieces or party hostesses).  Most of them are affordable and adorable at the same time.  Naturally there are 4 different lippies, everyone needs a good holiday lip!  Maybe even purchase a new beauty product for yourself,  a new lipstick always boosts my confidence.  Take a look at the adorable items below and make sure you know when all your favorite shops deadlines are!

Furry Finds

12/14/13

What I would do for a furry jacket, no seriously you do not know the things I would do... These ladies look fab and i am envious of all of them.  If i had the bank account to go out and purchase whatever I pleased a fabulous fur coat would be on the list.  OK, so I not only do I not have that type of bank account, I also live in New England.  And the winters here are not only unpredictable, but wet to say the least.  How would I wear a gorgeous fur coat where there is just a few weeks fit the fur in?  Very sad but I'm already over it.  Personally a fur coat is not for me at this day in age, and I can accept that (for now).

I will stick to my winter coats, and even though I can not stand them, when it gets cold its cold.   In order to survive I must give in to putting my long puffy coat on (even when I don't want to).  I prefer a practical coat that keeps me: warm, dry, and healthy.  Below I have chosen some coats that can keep you warm, dry, and healthy.
