Nothings Better than a Sweater

11/24/13

I thought I had an obsession with sweaters last year but the addiction has significantly increased.  I have probably worn this one at least once a week since purchasing and can not get enough of it.  The length is perfect and i love how great it looks belted and unbelted.  I have been belting it lately, simply because it keeps me warmer for those chilly days where I can not bother with wearing a coat!  I wore this outfit to the movies to see Best Man Holiday and it was amazing.  The movie was filled with so many ups and downs, laughs and tears; it was an emotional roller coaster but fantastic as a whole.

For my outfit I wore none other than a PIKO long sleeve top seen here, and here.  Sweaters tend to get itchy and then I get aggravated so a long-sleeve underneath is a must.  For bottoms I chose a camel pant/jegging (those elastic waist jeggings from H&M).  For shoes I had lots of errands to run before so I went with my favorite sneaker.  For work I would pair this with a pair of booties or flats.  I will say that a nice chunky but feminine sweater is a must for these colder months.

Stay tuned for Thanksgiving outfit ideas!

Fall Beauty Favorites

Fall Beauty Favorites

I have been meaning to get into more beauty posts.  I would love to post more reviews and eventually get into tutorials but that will all come in time.  This month I have been getting into beauty items more than I have been in the past few months.  If I wrote about all the lipsticks I tried this month you would be reading for about an hour.  Fall is all about bold colors: bright cheeks and dark lips.  I also believe that fall is one of the best times for makeup in general because it dose not melt off your face and the air is not as dry as the winter months.
1.  I purchased this eye pallet a while ago and the colors are phenomenal.  I really liked this pallet because the pans are so small... this may sound strange but I never ever use up eyeshadows.  It is so compact and is perfect for a full fall look, I especially love the green.
2.  This MAC blush in "So Sweet So Easy" has been my go-to it gives me such a rosy complexion and I am in love.  The pigment, like most MAC blush is phenomenal and long wearing.
3. Although I usually wear false lashes I love this for the days I don't.  It last all day with no flaking or smudging and extends lashes like no other.  By far my favorite mascara of all.
4. I just reviewed this facial cleanser here, but thought I would touch on how great it is once again.  It cleanses the skin clear of makeup, dirt, and oils gently without stripping the skin of natural oils needed to keep the skin hydrated.  It is a gel cleanser and is gentle enough for removing eye makeup.  It is a great buy.
5. This seems really simple and it is.  This is just an angles eyeliner brush but I got a new one at the beginning of the month and the little things excite me.  I is so easy to apply eyeliner with a new brush so I thought I would include it.
6. This one of two lipsticks and it was really difficult to narrow it down to just two of them.  I must say that this one surprised me.  I happened to purchase this at CVS simply because Milani cosmetics were on sale and I can not resist a sale.  This one is called "Sangria" and that is just what it is!  This lipstick is such a beautiful color!  I will be sure to swatch it for you later.  It is such a beautiful purple.
7. Next is another drugstore lipstick and it is "Black Cherry", an extremely deep plum color that is moisturizing as well as  luxurious on the lips.  I can't even express my love for deep lips throughout the winter this will continue to be a favorite of mine.

What have been your fall beauty favorites?

Thanksgiving Details and Quick DIY

11/19/13

Thanksgiving Details

We all know Thanksgiving is in a week, and what's better then spicing up the home for family and friends.  If Thanksgiving dinner is hosed at your home or not it is easy to add some simple touches to bring on the Thanksgiving feel.  Who dosent love decorating!?

1. I adore the idea of this little pad of paper.  It is definitely important to reflect on what we are greatful for.  How cute would it be to have everyone who visits your home write what they are thankful for?
2. This super cute wine sweater is perfect for a cozy feel to your kitchen, or even a great addition to a holiday party in general.
3. If you are hosting a party this tub is perfect for drinks, just fill with ice and serve, after the holidays are over it would be great to store all seasonal home accessories in as well.
4. Candles are for sure the easiest way to change the mood in any room.  The aroma fills the room and can defiantly make a major change in mood.  A fresh sent goes a long way.
5. Spice up your furniture with accent pillows, or a warm colored throw.  It's easy to throw some pillows on a couch or chair.  Homegoods and Target have some adorable pillows.  I love this owl one from West Elm.  It's a little bit on the pricy side but it's just for inspiration!
6. This leaf is too cute... and I am obsessed with little dishes and leaves so naturally I am obsessed with this.  Put whatever you want on it: jewelry  candy, your keys.  It is just so adorable, use a couple to spice up your Thanksgiving table setting!
7. Last but not least is a little bit of a DIY!  So first you'll need some pinecones, you can use natural ones or get them from your local craft store.  I personally like to glitter them, so I roll the edges in glue and then dust with glitter! Next just put them in a vase, or multiple dishes and place where ever you like. I mean it's an extremely easy "DIY" to master, and can be spiced up with some scented potpourri!  After Thanksgiving some ornaments can be added!

So there you have it!  Spice up your life!

Off the Beaten Path

11/18/13

With the weather up and down in the city of boston its is important to have pieces on call for those in-between days!  This outfit was comfy and casual enough for some weekend wear.  After enjoying some delicious crepes, Max and I found this adorable ally way, and stopped to take some pictures.  It was so cute and I loved how all the leaves collected along the sides.

This outfit was easy enough to throw on after taking too long to get ready, I find that I often take extremely long in the morning when I don't have a time limit.  Since the skirt is tight I decided to pair it with a looser sweater.  It happened to be a bit too loose so I tied it at the side and it instantly made the outfit more casual and weekend-like (that's not even a word).

Hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Collab: Cozy Fall

11/13/13

I am pleased to bring you this collaboration with Makayla from Fashionably Kay.  Makayla is a 21 year old fashion student with an eye for style and a really great blog.  Her pictures are professional and her blog is nicely organized.  She is also extremely understanding and has the characteristics of a great friend!  Her outfit is fabulous and take a look at how similar our booties are!
Make sure to stop by Fashionably Kay after viewing this post!

Alright I know I went a little picture crazy on this one but I must say that this was the best shoot i've had.  My sweet, loving boyfriend takes all of my pictures and lets just say that it's not always an easy task.  Getting good pictures is harder than it seems.  You need good lighting, a good scene, the white balance needs to be correct and last but not least patience is needed.  I have been researching tips on photographing for style blogs and many people recommended the 50mm lens.  For a mere 100 dollars this  is worth its money and much more.

This outfit is a perfect example of my weekend wear.  These jeggings have a cool acid wash effect but its not too crazy.  I love the acid look but feel that most jeans are too overdone and these have just the right touch.  they are perfect for shopping because they are easy to get on and off in the fitting room and they are great for events like concerts as well because they are stylish and easy to move around in.

For the top I am wearing none other than my PIKO!  I have talked about these tops before here, but I have no problem talking about them again!  They are the perfect top: soft to the touch, loose in the right places, wide neckline, nice length, and come in many colors.   I'm not going to even say how many I own.

The weather has been getting a lot chillier here in Massachusetts so to warm it up I added my two toned jacket from H&M and an oversized Zara scarf!  I love the mixture of neutrals, and if your in the market for a BIG warm scarf check this one out (I got it in gray as well).

Men's Fashion: Weekend Comfort

11/12/13

Clearly my camera shy boyfriend has come out of his shell and allowed me to take some pictures of him.  Words really don't express how happy I am that I can finally post some of his outfits!  As a shopaholic and girlfriend I tend to push style upon poor Max.  Hey, new clothing never hurt anyone.  I must say that Max has a great sense of style on his own and I did not have any influence on this outfit except for introducing him to H&M, I feel like guys are afraid to explore.  He now is an avid H&M shopper!

Max is obsessed with his sneakers and I approve.  A mans shoes say a lot about them.  Clean shoes, clean man; dirty shoes, dirty man.  Need I say anymore?  These suede "Haystack 90's" Air Max's are a favorite of mine.

Shopping for men is a lot of fun, I really love the fact that I do not have to try on any of the clothes I purchase for him, and it is rare that they do not fit.  Guys luckily do not have wide hips or crazy curves that can make finding the perfect jean a lifelong process.

Stay tuned for a Collab post tomorrow!
