Casual Pattern Play

3/2/15

It is cold.  Really cold. But the cold won't put a damper on my day, epically my day off.  I stick to layering when the temps are in the teens and below: long sleeve shirt, sweater, jacket, blanket scarf.  It also helps that I am usually inside, or in the car.  There is something amazing about stripes and their ability to mix and match with everything... yes everything.  I can put stripes with another pattern and fall in love (stripes and plaid is one of my favorites for winter).   Also, these shoes... AMEN to my boyfriend.  They are the perfect, casual couture is how I see them!  The universal olive color mixed with the slight wedge makes me feel like an urban badass... I'm not that urban, and I'm not much of a badass so it's a bit of a stretch but they make me feel good so i'm going to rock them as much as possible.

This bag... I'm trying to be a good girl and not splurge on any items for a month (lets see how that goes). But, the bucket bag is back in full force and I am filling the void with this Old Navy one until I pull the plug on a more expensive one.  Its just a matter of time before I pull the trigger and give my entire paycheck for something to carry all of my other things.

Oh, and someone needs to tell mother nature to relax with all this snowfall...

snowpocalypse (noun): more snow than you would ever need, or could imagine

2/25/15

It has been about a week since some serious snow hit the city of Boston (and surrounding area).  I must ask why it is still causing such commotion?  My commute is longer, there are no parking spaces, and people are scared to drive above 25 mph (... move your car).  But, lets think about this for a second, it's New England... as much as I hate the unpredictable weather I know there is always a chance for things to get a bit crazy.  The amount of snow that mother earth has blessed upon us is a bit more than expected   but I know we will all be complaining about the heat and humidity this summer...
For those of you in warmer places, I am happy for you that you do not have to battle with your neighbor for a parking space or spend countless hours getting stuck on a side street that no one saw fit to plow.

How To Wear: The Blanket Scarf

11/16/14

the blanket scarf

It gets so cold here in New England that you are crazy if you do not own a blanket scarf.  They are as warm as they are stylish and is a staple for any fall wardrobe.  This year there are so many places to find blanket scarfs that is is no longer acceptable to now own one!  The best part about them is that they take any outfit from drab to fab in seconds!

The hardest part about a blanket scarf is choosing what way to wear it!  Below is a video showing you three quick and easy ways to style the scarf! Enjoy!

Aztec & a Fur Vest

1/12/14

As these winter months go buy I cant help but get tired of wearing sweater after sweater.  When I can catch a break I like to mix things up.  This fur vest is an absolute favorite of mine, I purchased it last year while working at Bebe and it is just amazing.  It is a reversible fur vest, one side is suede and the other side is, yep you guessed it, fur!  I like to mix up the side that I wear, I am also fond of the cut out in the back.
I love wearing the fest with a feminine blouse, this one is my favorite right now, the detailing is so dainty and the cut is very flattering on me.  I paired the outfit with some olive jeggings for comfort and cheetah flats because who doesn't love some cheetah.
Unfortunately i have been sick in bed basically the entire weekend with a stomach bug (there goes my hopes for being back on schedule)

Hope everyone has a great week :)

With the Holidays behind us it's the perfect time to catch up on errands and such.
This outfit is perfect for errand running without looking like the mess you may be in.  I feel that over the last couple of weeks I have been so behind in every aspect of life and am making it a priority to get back on track.  Sweater dresses have been a favorite of mine for the last couple weeks for a couple of reasons: they are easy, warm, and adorable.   I already discussed my dislike for jackets, so while running erands I like to wear things that are light enough that I am not going to be sweating by the time I am ready to checkout.  Sweater dresses are just fabulous all together.

Hello There Snow.

12/19/13

Well with winter comes snow.  In the last week we have had a couple of snowfalls and yesterday was the first day I was not bundled head to toe.  This outfit was perfect for running errands and finishing up my Christmas shopping.  Like most people, wearing or carrying a jacket while shopping is quite an annoyance.  The vest made shopping much easier and I was not drenched in sweat after a few hours of shopping.  I opted for a pair of combat boots because they do pretty well in the snow and they are not as heavy as a pair of snow or rain boots.  Overall yesterday was a productive, much needed day off.
For a casual outfit I usually choose simple pieces.  A sweatshirt, comfortable jeans, and a few accessories pair for a somewhat polished look, even when you do not feel polished at all.

Furry Finds

12/14/13

What I would do for a furry jacket, no seriously you do not know the things I would do... These ladies look fab and i am envious of all of them.  If i had the bank account to go out and purchase whatever I pleased a fabulous fur coat would be on the list.  OK, so I not only do I not have that type of bank account, I also live in New England.  And the winters here are not only unpredictable, but wet to say the least.  How would I wear a gorgeous fur coat where there is just a few weeks fit the fur in?  Very sad but I'm already over it.  Personally a fur coat is not for me at this day in age, and I can accept that (for now).

I will stick to my winter coats, and even though I can not stand them, when it gets cold its cold.   In order to survive I must give in to putting my long puffy coat on (even when I don't want to).  I prefer a practical coat that keeps me: warm, dry, and healthy.  Below I have chosen some coats that can keep you warm, dry, and healthy.

Monochromatic Man

12/3/13

Max is back, although he often says that he can not stand pictures he seems to enjoy when I post his outfits.  Well he probably just wanted to show off his new boots, and I can see why.  I actually really like a man in boots, clean boots... I just simply like clean shoes in general.  I also like the monochromatic feel of his outfit, the similarity in color between his brownish coat and brownish plum jeans creates a specific classic feel to his outfit that he probably thought about for .5 seconds.  The simplicity of a mans outfit really shows that a minimal look can go a long way.  A simple striped shirt, plain hoodie, jacket and jeans requires little thought and can be paired with limitless pieces.
