feeling lucky

8/11/15

jacket - Lucky Brand (I can't believe I found it) | jeans - Zara | shirt - J.Crew (old) | shoes - Dolce Vita | purse - Rebecca Minkoff | sunglasses - Ray Ban

I have not taken outfit pictures in what seems like forever so I was so glad to find these photos in a random folder on my desktop.  So I am lucky to have something to post and I was also lucky to find this jacket because I hunted it down for about a week.  You know when you see someone wearing something amazing and you just need to find it (while praying that it dose not cost a limb... usually everything I want dose).  I saw a coworker wearing this jacket and basically chased her down screaming "where did you get that".  It is such a great piece for laying and the quilted detail just kills it! She told me that she purchased it at Lucky Brand and it was the last one.  I checked the website... could not find it.  Went to the Lucky Brand in my mall... could not find it.  Called the two other Lucky Brand stores within driving distance... obviously they did not have it either (this is why all stores need to have their inventory in sync).  So for a couple of days I sulked about never finding this jacket I even checked eBay... how desperate.

Finally about 2 weeks later I was shopping (per usual), at Lucky Brand and I found it... the last one in my size (well a size bigger, but who cares)  I was ecstatic! - Not to mention (well I am mentioning) it was on sale and extra 50% off... the wait was worth it.

Well thats the end of my sad shopaholic story but I am happy to say that I found it in almost all sizes here!

lace shorts & olive shirt

7/27/15

I purchased these shorts as soon as spring started and have not worn them until this past week.  I was going to get them altered to have the perfect fit but I am a procrasinator and there is only a month left of summer so I will suck it up and continue to pull these up each time I wear them.  I am starting to think that I should accually stop shopping...

That will never happen, but I am thinking about it so that is a start.

I have such a strange habit of saving items of clothing - this needs to stop.  At the end of each season I end up with too many items never worn with the tags still attached (how sad is that).  While these clothes sadly hand in my closet untouched I continue to purchase more and more items witch amounts to even more unworn pieces.  Whatever I can return I do - but there is a good amount I endup sitting on until I give it away or donate it.

This past week I finally starting posting my lightly used or unworn items on the app Polyvore!  Two pairs or shoes already sold and it is such a relief to get rid of some of the items that I wore one or two times! If you do not already have the app sign up with the code HPUEG to receive a free $5 credit!

happy shopping & selling,

floral & coral

7/16/15

Floral and coral together - yes please.  Coral is my color all summer long - it's looks great with a tan and is works with most other colors (aka I make it work).  I found this floral print dress a couple of weeks ago and forgot (let's not touch on that) but once I saw it & put it on again I was reminded of why I purchased it in the first place!  I love the tulip hem and the colors in the flowers. It never hurts to have a dress that can work for special occasions.
Coats like this one are a nessesity in my wardrobe.  They usually always work no matter what is underneath them and help out when a particular dress might be a bit too short (I have long legs, what am I suppose to do!?).  I pared this outfit with my favorite bag/shoe combo.  I wear these heels with everything because they are so comfortable - I like I have said 15 times they are from Old Navy and I love a great bargain.  The bag is not new to the blog either, Rebecca Minkoff is my home girl and most of my handbags are by her because of the simplistic silhouettes and extra detail.

the best sale of the year

7/12/15

nordstrom anniversaty sale

Its the most wonderful time of the yearrrr... (the Nordstrom anniversary sale of course!).  The sale started the 9th of July for Nordstrom card holders and the public sale starts on the 17th!  Above are some of the items I am obsessing over.  Sadly since I am an employee I can not shop until the public sale hits but I also have the chance to roam every department on a daily basis adding items to my list.  Even as a Nordstrom employee I wait for the anniversary sale all year.  It is the only time that items are marked down before they are at a full price.  There are also a ton of great products that are carried year round set to a special anniversary price (the Zella leggings, tons of bras, and spanxs/hosiery is what I will stock up on since I purchase these things all year long.
So if you have a chance to shop the sale take full advantage && if you are not into credit cards they have a great debit option as well!

This sale I have been trying to stay focused with my choices and limiting them to items that will get plenty of use such as booties, flats, jeans, scarfs... basically everything pictured above (and then some).  It might be hard to think ahead to fall since the summer if in full swing but think crisp leaves and brisk air while shopping (it might make it easier).

If you are looking for anything specific feel free to contact me! I can always hunt for a specific item!

Happy shopping!

basic black romper

7/8/15

romper - Express | vest - Old Navy | shoes - Old Navy | clutch - Marshalls | earrings - Charming Charlies

The summer is in full swing, sadly I have come to realize that there is no such thing as summer vacation and now that I have bills I do have to work and can not spend every weekend at the beach.  I try to fill my days off with some sort of summer activity (it almost always has to do with the beach, or someones pool).  Having a work life balance is important (and much harder than it seems).  As I get older the amount of free time I have diminishes before my eyes.  There are seven days in a week, five out of the seven days of the week are spend working and the other two days are usually filled with errands.  As my mother would say, "that's life".

As much as I enjoy growing up I would enjoy a nice 3 month summer vacation - but that is not going to happen (unless I win the lottery, or somehow find away to marry into the royal family).  I tell myself the harder I work the more likely I will be able to have ample free time in the future, and as long as I keep telling myself that I will make it through these grueling work weeks!

Okay... if you have not yet found a romper this one is a necessity by far.  My legs are pretty long so most rompers are wayyyyy to short!  I do not need my ass hanging out so I usually refrain from purchasing them - this is one that I had to have!  It works great with layers.  I have worn it probably once a week for the past six weeks.  I wish I was wearing it now but it is in the wash so I will have to wait until tomorrow.

I have had this olive vest for over a year and it never fails me.  Olive is a key color in my wardrobe because it works with almost every color and every season.  I need layers no matter what time of year and vests are the best option for summer!  The shoes - Old Navy of course (no I am not sponsored by them) I just keep finding the best items there.  I have been in love with lace up anything so these sandals were a must.

and now I'm off to work,
