Date Night Chic: Bodycon

3/24/15

My love for transitional pieces is real.  I declared my love for this dress in my last outfit post and heres another example of how this dress (and any other body-con dress) can be so versatile.  As much as I wish I had a jet-setting, vacation taking, exciting life I don't.  Like many 20 year olds my life is filled with work, school work, and a lack of sleep.  On occasion I may have a chance to dress it up a bit and having pieces that are as easily dressed up as they are dressed down makes things easier.
Dressed up this dress is perfect for date night, dressed down its perfect of running errands, heading to class, or a quick lunch with friends.

Top the dress with a longline vest, blazer, or coat for a more sophisticated feel.
Versatile pieces can make getting dressed less of a headache.  Lets not overlook the marble print of this gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff clutch, I was in love the second I saw it.  (cross body version)

Downtown Chic: Bodycon

3/16/15

I have to admit: I once had a body-con addiction.  Lets face it, plenty of people did (and still do).  Rewind about 4 years to my junior year of high school, body-con was everywhere.   Forever 21 was the body-con mother load.  It was not hard to accumulate a collection of brightly colored body-con items that were too tight and too short (yes mom, I am admitting to my mistakes)...  Fast forward to what I would like to barely call adulthood, body-con has been replaced with trend after trend... but I will never fully give it up (still holding on).  Yes, they can ride up without notice. Yes, you can see every roll that may or may not exist on your body.  But, they will always be so easy to dress (and it will most likely always fit) ...
Take this outfit for example: start with a body-con dress, add a leather jacket, sneakers, and a scarf (or substitute for a necklace) and ta-DA, outfit complete!  Dress it up, dress it down, add a sweater, or a jacket, or a skirt and instantly you are ready to go.

warm front (noun): a brief period of time where warm air replaces the unbearable cold air...

3/12/15

This slight glimpse of warmth (and by warmth I mean anything above 40 degrees) has given me hope.  I am ready for spring and everything that comes with it!  Bring on the sandals, dresses, light coats and anything else that has no connection to negative degree weather or snow.
Yesterday the high was 57... yes  f i f t y s e v e n!  It didn't feel like 57 but lets be real, I will take anything over 40!  This casual transition outfit was perfect!  A light sweater, boyfriend jeans, and my chucks topped with a scarf for those gusts of wind!  I brought out my favorite spring bag and lets not forget the violet mirrored sunnies (I'm obsessed).  When thinking transitions I always keep layers in mind. If it was a bit warmer I would have replaced the scarf with a necklace; a bit cooler and I would have added a vest!

My faith restored that spring will eventually come!

transition: summer tank

10/2/13

I'm a strong believer in reduce and reuse, especially when it comes to my clothes!
Take that summer tank and add a fall button up!  It was around 80 degrees this day so i opted for a pair of studded Bebe sandals but a pair of booties would have been my go to.  With some dark destroyed skinnies it's an effortless look.  These ones are from American Eagle and if you have never tried a pair of their jeans you don't know what your missing!  They have 22 fits and 120 washes (all for 29.99 for now) , there is a jean for everyone!  Try them out, I could live in them!

The fringe bag is as effortless as the rest of the look, to spice it up add a fall lip and this outfit is perfect for running errands, a coffee date, or leave the lips bare for that "just relaxing" look.

plaid and tee's

Button up's are versatile and scream fall, so be sure to look out for how I style them.

transition: summer dress

9/16/13

For those summer dresses your just not get ready to part with,
put a sweater on it!

This dress was one of my summer favorites and so easy to pair with multiple sweaters because of the simplicity of the colors (this or this).  I picked up the bright pink sweater from H&M ages ago (similar) and i'm glad to still be rocking it!  This outfit was comfortable for sight seeing and added some brightness to an already sunny day.  In my eyes the outfit was not complete without a big necklace. So I added one to pull it all together. The one i'm wearing is from Francesca's but I also like this!

color(fall)

9/14/13

I started this fall transition with a tee in a bright summer color,
and a fun patterned light summer scarf!
The light ripped denim adds a laid back feel,
too add the first touch of fall I put on some cute studded booties.

To pull the look together I added a soft, oversized cardigan.
The perfect touch of early fall.

I am so in love with this outfit!  It's amazing how a quick cardigan and booties can really make an outfit fall ready.  Theres nothing better than bright colors and I am simply not ready to let them go!

sassy sneakers

9/11/13

While traveling to Providence a comfy outfit was needed.  I'm not much of a sweatpants or sweatshirt girl, but a nice pair of jeggings are the perfect alternative.  Not to mention, some sassy sneakers... that I am IN LOVE with! (in my August fav's)  They are the perfect shoe for a stylish laid back day.  I am also loving this Piko brand shirt from No Rest for Bridget (online store opening soon) but you can find them here for now!  They are the ultimate shirt: soft, forgiving, and long enough to wear with leggings. Stay tuned for another Fall transition coming soon
Thanks always,

Finally, an actual outfit!  I have finally got the time courage and boyfriend's cooperation to take some pictures.  For my first post I think the pictures came out pretty well.  I had a lot of fun and it was exciting that my boytoy was enjoying it as well.  As fall comes I thought it would be fun for some transition outfits, so this is one!  These light ripped jeans (that I love) remind me of summer.  Pairing them with a silk floral pattern blouse adds a fall touch to the outfit.
