Why I Say No to Jackets

12/9/13

 v

More often than not I am that girl walking down the street when it is 30 degrees with a sweater (and usually a scarf) on.  I do not know what it is but I can not stand the feeling of a jacket.  They are stuffy, hot, limiting, and obnoxious.  There are few things worse than chasing down the train in a jacket that you can barely move your arms in.  When your finally on the train your body starts to overheat causing you to sweat.  Yes, it gets pretty cold in Boston but my body is accustomed to it.  I do not need a Northface down jacket that goes below my knees, multiple layers of leggings, a hat that was created for Antarctica, or boots that could trudge through a foot of snow.  Winter just started and I will be without a formal winter coat for as long as I can.

As an alternative I wear nice chunky sweaters.  I love them.  Although they don't do much for the body I really find them quite attractive and practical for those chilly but not yet freezing days.  What I do is layer underneath with a quarter length shirt.  I'm not sure if I have a high body temperature or what, but I don't get too cold.

Enough about my strange no jacket policy and on to the outfit.  I paired this sweater (similar to my sweater dress) with some light olive knit jeggings.  I should really look into expanding my sense of color, but to me they are light olive.  For a more casual day (when I am not working) I would pair this with my beloved chucks, but for work purposes these cute wedges did the trick (and only cost 34.99 at Target).  I added lots of rings and two pendents, I really love the look of pendents with cowl neck/turtle neck tops.

I will be styling another chunky sweater soon, stay tuned.

When's the Best Time to Wear a Striped Sweater?

10/28/13

Yes, the best time to wear a  striped sweater is... ALL THE TIME!
Channeling my inner child with some Spongebob throwback, but anyways
this striped sweater is one I could wear all the time.  The black and oatmeal
stripes paired with a boxy fit make this sweater as comfortable as a sweater
should be.  Paired with distresses jeans (seen here, and here, and here
[clearly I wear them a lot]) made a perfect Sunday look.

Let me also tell you about this jacket that I, for some reason, find to be
so cute.  The two-toned style and denim feel make it stylish and wearable.
The coloring is similar to the quilted style jacket I wore in my last outfit post,
but what can I say i'm attracted to it!

&& these python print booties from American Eagle have stolen my heart.
I wish I could say that they are still available, but sadly they are sold out!
I'll keep my eye out for them on the website, maybe they will be back.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Loving Layering

10/17/13

For those days that are chilly, but not chilly enough for a jacket.  I resort to layering.  It has to be the easiest way to successfully keep warm while looking cute.  I'm not a huge fan of jackets, they tend to be uncomfortable and stiff, but a sweater laves room for movement.
Opposed to the conventional button down, I decided on a chambray shirt to wear underneath.
Its more my style!
I am loving this plum color and the "v" neckline.  I am pretty busty so its often hard to find a flattering sweater, the bulk and high neckline of most of them leave me looking shapeless.  But, the deep "v" in this one makes me feel as curvy as usual.
The light bottoms add some contrast and the leopard loafers add sass to the over all preppy feel.
