Wardrobe Classic: The Trench

4/3/15

trench coat trasition

Like I said before... I have been searching for a classic trench coat for too long now.  I have tried too many, out of those I have purchased one (featured here) it works for now, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.  As I continue my search I am here creating ideal outfits for when I find a winner.

Outfit one: top | sunglasses | shoes | jeans | scarf | handbag
If I could wear jeans to work this would be my daily uniform, casual, comfortable, and simple.  New England is a bit behind with spring temperatures so scarfs are needed (easily replaced with a necklace), stripes are my personal favorite print but if your the type who despises them a plain top is perfect.  The bow flats are not only adorable but are extremely affordable and can be worn with everything from shorts to a dress.  Raybans are always so effortless and the bag speaks for itself.

Outfit two: top | shoes | skirt | clutch | sunglasses | watch
If I had an important desk job, or some classy lunch to attend this would be my ideal outfit, sad to say I have neither but a girl can plan.  The striped top appears again and the floral skirt is so bright and girly.  I had to pull some color from the skirt for the heels (cobalt heels would work too.  The clutch is a no brainier, nude goes with everything and will work with countless outfits.

Zip sweater / American Eagle Outfitters jacket / Uniqlo circle skirt / J.Crew suede shoes / Rebecca Minkoff satchel handbag / MARC BY MARC JACOBS leather strap watch / Ray-ban glasses

In my spare time I enjoy creating outfits that I don't have, but wish I did.  This particular outfit is a collaboration of things I have been obsessing over lately.  I surrounded this outfit around the New Balance sneakers and Rebecca Minkoff satchel.  I talked about sneakers in my last post so there isn't too much to explain there.  And for the bag, well, I think it speaks for itself.   The color gray has taken over my usual love for brown and other warm tones and the luxurious look of suede is currently far more appealing to me than leather.

I love the classic but laid back feel of this outfit, and it also pushes me to purchases these sneakers (and pray that my boyfriend sees this, and orders the bag for Christmas).

Current Obsession: hats

current obsession hats

J.Crew j crew hat / Uniqlo brimmed hat / H&M brimmed hat, $24 / Beanie hat, $13

This upcoming season has gotten me in the craze for hats.  In the past, scarves have been my obsession, but this season my love for hats is growing.  After already purchasing a Kardashian inspired wide brimmed hat I find myself gravitating towards other colors of this same hat (yes, I'm addicted), as well as other styles.

Hats are an accessory that take some thought.  Pick one that looks good against your hair tone.  Also, make sure that your outfit balances out.

1.  For a wool baseball cap I would go for a sporty outfit, possibly some wedged sneakers, an embellished sweatshirt, utility jacket, and skinnies.

2.  For a fall fedora I would pair it with a chambray shirt, some fall colored denim (maroon, gray, and brown are my favorites).  Some cute flats (animal print is always fun), and an optional scarf for those cooler days.

3.  For this wide brimmed hat I would go all out.  A patterned shirt with some embellished sleeves, fur vest, skinny jeans and fun booties would create an outstanding, show stopping look.

4.  Last but not least for the transitional beanie anything is possible.  I love beanies for lounging around in a cozy sweater and leggings, but they are also great with a statement jacket.

I would love to know your favorite style of hat!
